Issues with Community Sidewalks

Tahir Charles, a member of the community as well as our elected member of the WCID Board of Directors, reported at the last meeting and asked what the plans are for the broken sidewalks.

There are three primary issues:

  1. Which ones belong and need to be repaired by the County?  These ones will have manhole covers with the word Stormwater on them.  Should you see one with that name and it’s breaking the sidewalk, take a picture.  There is an app you can download to your phone where you can report this issue (HarrisHelp).  Also, please use our contact form to let us know about it and where it’s located as well.  The county is fairly responsive and has already addressed a few locations in the community.
  2. If the cover says Sanitary, it is still not clear who is responsible for that.
  3. General areas such as the primary children’s park where the roots of a tree are causing sidewalk damage would most likely be the responsibility of the community to fix.  We need to generate a list and make a plan as this would be very expensive to address.
